August 6 - Too Many Bucks

Unfortunately, I was not able to be on site last Saturday. I say unfortunately since I missed out on the live action and have to rely on the reports of witnesses. Two events occurred that are worth reporting.

Organizing the Storage Shed -
It is alleged that Randy and a group of younger volunteers spent a portion of Saturday building more shelving, sorting supplies, labeling shelf locations and then putting the tools and supplies such that digging or throwing is no longer required to find the desired item. I have to admit that I am impressed. On Monday, when I was on site, Brent came to get something and stood in the doorway amazed and bewildered. He then spent some time wandering around mumbling, "Now I can't find anything." I figure the clean up was a great success.

Too Many Bucks -

At first glance, it would not appear that having too many bucks would be a problem when you are building a church. However, when the bucks were positioned for installation in the various openings, there was a little head scratching going on. Immediately, arithmetic broke out. On the lift please count four bucks. In the wall, count three openings.

Even when viewed from the other side of the wall, still more bucks than openings. It is alleged that crew chief, Ken, said something like, "I hate when that happens."

Notice four bucks installed on the wall opposite.

Ken sent pictures to The Man In the Yellow Hat, who may or may not have been wearing said headgear, and followed up with a phone call. On hearing the report, TMITYH said with his typical level of emotion, "Oh, dear." Additional details on the conversation were not reported.

The crew on site was undaunted. Another opening was needed. Once again Andy made it fit. The hammer drill came into play as the foam peeled off much easier than the concrete pillars.

A little more pounding, persuading and sweating follow.

And, just like that, a window opening for a buck.

Just what the plan calls for, four openings with four bucks installed. All's well that ends well.
